After a resounding election win for British Prime Minister David Cameron and his Conservative party, US President Barack Obama on Friday offered congratulations and vowed the US and the UK will remain key partners on a host of global issues, The Washington Times reported on Friday.
Cameron’s party captured at least 324 seats to the Labour Party’s 229, with 639 of 650 constituencies counted.
“I congratulate Prime Minister Cameron on his impressive electoral victory. The special and essential relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom is rooted in deep and abiding shared interests and values,” Obama said.
“I have enjoyed working closely with Prime Minister Cameron on a range of shared interests these last several years, and I look forward to continuing to strengthen the bonds between our countries, as we work together on behalf of global peace, security and prosperity.”
