The Interior Ministry has confirmed the death of Col. Aly Ahmed Fahmy, the chief of the Mounib Traffic Police, and conscript Mohamed Ramadan el Borhamy in an attack on their car in Shabramant district of Giza.
A number of unidentified gunmen opened fire at their car earlier Saturday.
A team has been formed to search for and quickly arrest the perpetrators, said the media official at the Ministry.
The Interior Ministry mourns the victims of duty, the media official said.
Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar has ordered that all measures be taken to provide best care for the families of the two victims.
