The Islamophobia Monitoring Observatory of Egypt's Dar al Iftaa has strongly condemned a shooting in front of a mosque in the southeastern French city of Avignon, where eight people including a girl were lightly wounded late on Sunday.
In a statement, the observatory said such terror crimes have to be firmly confronted.
They are a natural consequence of allowing racial discourse against Muslims in Europe, it added.
According to initial accounts taken on the spot, at least two men got out of a car near the mosque and opened fire. None of the wounded had life-threatening injuries.
