Jordanian Government Spokesman Mohammad Al-Momani strongly condemned the assassination of Egypt's Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat in a terrorist attack on his convoy Monday morning.

In statements to MENA, Momani said Jordan strongly condemned this cowardly attack and announced its backing for Egypt in eradicating terrorism.

He asserted that such attacks contradict the Islamic values which call for moderation and tolerance.

He also called on the international community to cooperate with regional parties to uproot terrorism.

The Jordanian government spokesman also offered condolences to the Egyptian government and people over this tragic incident.
