Algerian artist Qadira Jababla praised her artistic talent to draw on glass, saying that it is unique and beautiful art that needs more concentration.
She added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that she inherited this talent from her mother, saying that she began this career at 18, as she managed to reach the top in this art in a short period due to her wonderful drawings that enjoyed popularity among the Algerian people.
She clarified that that she studied drawing on the papers using the oil paints, as the drawing on glass has not been taught in the Algerian schools. She said that it is an individual experience in which the fine artist discovers his talent by himself.
She stressed her keenness to depend on traditional decoration in her paintings to express the Algerian culture, stressing that the flowers, rural women and desert life are the major sources of her inspiration. She added, “Drawing on glass is not a new-born art, as it returns to the Ottoman age. It was exercised by craftsmen in the Ottoman civilization using the colored Arab font.
She added that the Artists who exercise this kind of art in Algeria are rare, saying that she participated in a number of exhibitions whether in Algeria or in the other countries.
