House of Pioneers is a musical-cultural salon Amman - Iman Abu Kaoud Members of the Jordanian House of Pioneers performed traditional folk Jordanian and Arab songs at the al-Hussein Cultural Centre in a concert organised by the seniors art club. The event, held under the auspices of Minister of Culture Sameeh al-Maayteh, delegated by Prince Hassan Bin Talal, kicked off with classic Andalusian muashshahs which transported listeners back to quainter times. Afterwards, Bishara al-Rabadi performed a mawwal and an Iraqi folk song: "Ai Shei fil Eid Ahdeek" and "Talaa men Beit Abouha," before Mohammed Wahib took over the mic to sing his trademark tune "Slaimeh." Salwa al-Aws delighted the audience with "Khassa ya Kouban," while Ismail Khird performed Ala Jenaah el-Teir to a rapt audience and Fouad Hegazi shone with "Ya Bnayeh Many Franji." Radwan al-Moghrabi sang "Ya Salat el-Zein" and Attalah Handileh captured the listerners' hearts with his rendition of Abdel Halim Hafez classic Ressala min Tahal Maa. Moussa Hejazein concluded the delightful evening with a comedy monologue entitled "El-Ard Btetkallem Arabi." Established in 2008, the House of Pioneers is a musical-cultural salon with membership of artists above 50 years old who are provided with a setting in which they can carry on with their musical pursuits. The organisation looks after artists in need and provides them with a social atmosphere that supports members, Jordanian and Arab art and senior listeners. It also encourages Jordanian musicians to practice their art and helps market Jordan to the tourism industry by holding monthly concerts and taking part in festivals.
