Neon Roberts, pictured, is at the center of the debate London – Caroline Kent The high court in London has delayed their ruling on whether a mother can prevent her son from having radiotherapy to treat brain cancer. Despite doctors’ fears that he could die within months if he does not go ahead with treatment, Sally Roberts, 37, opposes radiotherapy because she fears it will damage her seven year old son Neon in the long term. Justice Bodey delayed his verdict as ‘developments’ have come to light regarding Neon’s ability to be treated. He had been due to rule at the High Court in London this morning. Ms Roberts, who is originally from New Zealand but lives in Brighton, East Sussex, fled with her ill son earlier this week, sparking a manhunt that forced his plight in to the public eye and sparked debate among cancer specialists. Mr Justice Bodey is set to hear further evidence on developments at a rescheduled hearing on December 18. The child’s father Ben, who is estranged from his wife and lives with Neon’s twin sister Electra in Knightsbridge, West London, said he could not comment.
