International Arab Conference for Quality Assurance Manama - Arabstoday Hunderds of educational experts are expected to attend an international conference in Bahrain next month. The second International Arab Conference for Quality Assurance in Higher Education aims to improve the quality of education in the GCC and other Arab countries. It is being organised by Gulf University and will be held from April 3 to 5 at its Sanad Campus. "There will be 161 researchers from 61 countries taking part in this key conference, who will submit 106 papers," said conference chairwoman and university president Dr Mona Al Zayani. She was speaking at a Press conference at the K Hotel in Juffair yesterday to announce details of the two-day meeting. "It is important to have quality assurance in educational institutions for sustainable development," she said. "Mushrooming of different universities is a good sign for students, but it becomes imperative that education is up to international standards," she added. She said recommendations from the conference would help educators find the fault lines and put Bahrain in the forefront as the "education hub" in the region. Key speakers include Dr Raed Shadfan from the Petra University, Jordan, and Dr Keiichi Nakata from the University of Reading, the UK.
