American University of Sharjah London - Arabstoday Four Saudi universities have been listed in the 2013 QS World University Rankings by Subject, published on TopUniversities.com. The list compiles the top 200 universities in the world among 30 disciplines including degree subjects such as mathematics, economics, civil engineering, physics, law and 25 others. The American University of Sharjah was the only institution in the UAE to be featured in the ranking series, placing 151-200 in the world for English Language and Literature. Ben Sowter, head of research at QS said: "Although it may appear that only one UAE institution appeared in the ranking series, we should also note that only the top 200 in the world were published, illustrating the world's most elite institutions in the 30 different discipline fields. "Our data has shown that beyond the top 200, nine UAE institutions in total had received nominations by academics in at least one subject, which shows that the international reputation of the country's institutions at an individual discipline level is not going unnoticed," he added. The 2013 QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluated 2858 universities and ranked 678 institutions in total.
