Croatian students will communicate with astronauts at the International Space Station to celebrate their country's entry into the European Union (EU), local media reported on Saturday. As a joint project of the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station, the International Amateur Radio Union and the space agencies of the EU, the U.S., Canada, Russia and Japan, 28 students will communicate with the astronauts via radio for 11 minutes to 12 minutes on June 26. The 28 students, who are from Croatia's Technical School Ruder Boskovic, will talk with the astronauts on the International Space Station when it is flying over Zagreb at a speed of 27,000 kilometers per hour at an altitude of 450 kilometers. A special antenna system will be set up at a roof to track the International Space Station during its flyby over Zagreb. Each of the 28 students will have the opportunity to ask one question. The event will be transmitted with live images and sound on the website. Croatia will join EU on July 1. Thousands of people will join the celebration in the evening of June 30 at the city centre, which will also be participated by over 30 heads of state or government from EU members and other countries.
