DP World's flagship Jebel Ali Port has won the Best Seaport – Middle East Award for the 21st year in a row at the prestigious Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards, AFLAS, 2015, in Hong Kong.
The award was received on behalf of the global marine terminal operator by Rashid Abdulla, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, Asia Pacific Region.
Asia Cargo News magazine, the organisers of AFLAS, picked the winners through a nomination and voting process where more than 15,000 readers and e-news subscribers determined the leading companies in the market and then chose the winners.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman, DP World, said, "We are delighted by this recognition in Asia and proud that our flagship Jebel Ali Port continues to lead by example. Being crowned as the Best Seaport – Middle East for 21 years in a row is an achievement for Dubai and the UAE as a whole, demonstrating that visionary leadership, commitment and performance excellence continue to drive our national development.
"Our focus on strengthening Jebel Ali's role as the gateway to the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent is paying dividends. Our proven port-centric integrated logistics solutions have been complemented with the acquisition of the Economic Zones World, which includes Jebel Ali Free Zone. We are committed to contribute even more to the UAE's economy and Dubai's status as the premier regional trading hub.
"This on-going recognition at Asia's most prestigious awards ceremony is due to employees and our customers who see Jebel Ali Port as a vehicle for their business development. I would like to thank our clients and stakeholders for their support and assure them that we will continue our efforts to deliver the best and safest port services in the region," bin Sulayem concluded.
DP World recently announced the start of construction work on the brand new Container Terminal 4 at Jebel Ali, which will deliver new capacity of 3.1 million TEU in Phase 1 by 2018, taking the port's total capacity to 22.1 million TEU.
