Roy Beerens was called up as a replacement for Derk Boerrigter in the Dutch soccer squad on Friday. The Netherlands is preparing for the forthcoming friendlies against Switzerland in Amsterdam (November 11) and Germany in Hamburg (November 15) on Tuesday. Ajax winger Boerrigter had made his debut in the squad, but had to withdraw after two training days due to back problems. He will now continue his recovery at his club Ajax. "I'm very disappointed," he told Dutch football magazine Voetbal International. "This was the chance to show myself to coach Bert van Marwijk. But unfortunately it was not possible." Roy Beerens returned to the team after more than one year absence. He played his first and only international on August 11, 2010, against Ukraine (1-1). During that match head coach Van Marwijk experimented with several inexperienced players.
