Betis recruit Montero, Matilla from Villarreal

Newly promoted Spanish club Real Betis on Tuesday announced the signings of Jefferson Montero and Javier Matilla from La Liga rivals Villarreal. Ecuadorian winger Montero has joined on a season-long loan with no right-to-buy clause, while Spanish midfielder Matilla arrives on a permanent three-year contract with an option for a further year. Seville-based Betis, who will return to the Spanish top flight after one season in the second tier, have reportedly paid 1.4 million euros ($2m) to acquire the two players.
