Reigning world champions Korea Republic have been eliminated after China PR snapped up the third and final Asian qualifying ticket to the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The pair played out a tense goalless draw in Nanjing, China on the final day of the six-nation AFC U-16 Women’s Championship, which proved enough for the host side to join Japan and Korea DPR in Azerbaijan next year. Both teams had chances to win but China went into the contest with a superior goal difference knowing a draw would be sufficient. Japan finished the tournament with a perfect record thanks to a 1-0 win against Australia, while Korea DPR maintained second after overwhelming Thailand 8-0.
