Gambia have parted ways with Belgian coach Paul Put after the national team failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. "Yes, the coach has been sacked. The coach got the sack (on Monday) after his failure to qualify the team to the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea," Alieu Jammeh, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports said. Goalkeeping coach Franco Cresentini of Italy was also dismissed. Put took over as coach in June 2008, and after failing to lead the team to a place at the 2010 Nations Cup in Angola still had his contract renewed.
