Kenya have appointed Francis Kimanzi as the new national team coach to replace the recently sacked Zedekiah Otieno. Kimanzi, who is the current coach of local premiership side, Sofapaka, returns to the helm nearly two years after he was himself sacked from the same post due to disputes with the football administration. But his current appointment is one of the first changes to be undertaken by the new national football body that was voted into office at the weekend. "The National Executive Committee of the Kenya Football Association has unanimously decided on the appointment of Francis Kimanzi as the new coach of Harambee Stars," the chairman Sam Nyamweya said. Kenya failed to qualify for the 2012 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, after finishing third in Group J behind Angola and Uganda. The team is preparing to take on the Seychelles in the two-leg preliminary round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers set for 11 and 15 November.
