Spanish first division club Malaga on Thursday announced the signing of experienced Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy from German side Hamburg. The striker, who turns 35 on July 1, will be presented "as a Malaga player" to supporters at the club's stadium at 8pm (1800GMT) on Thursday, the club said in a Twitter message. Malaga gave no further details and there was no other official statement on the signing. Spanish media said van Nistelroooy had passed a medical and signed a one-year contract with the option of a further one year if he plays a certain number of matches. Malaga finished 11th in the Spanish top flight last season. Van Nistelrooy joined Hamburg in January 2010 after four years at Real Madrid. He previously played for PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United. At Real, he scored 46 goals in the league, winning the award for the top scorer in 2007.
