Lazio's unbeaten run continued with a battling goalless draw at Napoli in Serie A this evening. Edy Reja's side will be content with a point, for which they have goalkeeper Federico Marchetti to thank for several excellent second-half saves. Lazio are now unbeaten in nine games and move top of the table, but Udinese can overtake them tomorrow with victory at Parma. Napoli's stuttering start to the league campaign continues, however, and they will be hoping for a better performance when they take on Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. There were few chances in a dour first half with Christian Maggio having the only decent opportunity after just three minutes, but he shot high over the Lazio bar. Poor finishing from both teams meant the game went into the break goalless. The match improved in the second half, though, and Napoli dominated the game as they looked to close the gap on Lazio. However, Marchetti was in inspired form and a string of fine saves kept the score level. He saved from Ezequiel Lavezzi's effort from the edge of the area four minutes into the second period. Then, Edinson Cavani did beat Marchetti after 52 minutes but his goal was disallowed for offside. With 15 minutes remaining, Marchetti tipped over Lavezzi's volley. And in stoppage time the Lazio keeper made two further fine stops - both denying Lavezzi - to ensure a point for the visitors.
