Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino believes his side deserved their 4-2 La Liga win over Atletico Madrid, which ended a run of five games without a victory. Joan Verdu scored twice in the opening seven minutes of for Espanyol, whose other goals came from Romaric and Sergio Garcia. Atletico replied through Radamel Falcao and Arda Turan but Pochettino never doubted his side would win. "We deserved a win like this. I am very pleased with the result and the game," Pochettino told the club website. "We made a great first half and that laid down a marker. It was nice to win in this way, but especially for the players. It was a good night and hopefully more (victories are) coming." Pochettino claimed the spirit of the players during their winless run meant they would record a victory like the one against Atletico. He said: "We never doubted. At no time. We believed in what we were doing and it was a matter of luck and time that the results came. This was a good night."
