Siena moved into the top half of Serie A with a comfortable 4-1 win over Chievo at the Stadio Artemio Franchi today. Mattia Destro was on target twice with Gaetano D'Agostino and, finally, Emanuele Calaio scoring for the home side. Davide Moscardelli scored a consolation for an off-colour Chievo, who remain just three points above the bottom three. A dangerous cross from Franco Brienza was the most dangerous moment of the first 25 minutes, which were dominated by fouls and interruptions. The game needed something creative and that came from Destro as he put Siena in front. He raced towards the edge of the penalty area before checking back and shifting the ball on to his right foot, with which he shot into the far corner, with the ball striking the base of the post on its way in. Chievo's only threat came from Moscardelli, whose free-kick was pushed onto the bar by Zeljko Brkic in the 37th minute. Double for Destro Destro added the second 12 minutes into the second half when he popped up in the right place to score after Calaio's volley was saved well by Stefano Sorrentino, who was unfortunate to see the ball fall to Destro's feet. Four minutes later, D'Agostino left Sorrentino no chance with a direct free-kick from outside the penalty area which grazed the underside of the crossbar on its way into the top right-hand corner. Destro missed the chance to complete his hat-trick in the 69th minute when he placed his shot weakly straight at Sorrentino with only the Chievo goalkeeper to beat. Moscardelli then reduced the arrears with a goal he personally had deserved, slotting the ball into the far corner after Sergio Pellissier's pass had bisected the Siena defence. But there was no more to come from the Flying Donkeys, who conceded a fourth in the last minute of stoppage time when Calaio raced through and beat Sorrentino with a low shot.
