Egypt's former football icon Mohamed Abu Trika has filed a lawsuit with the administrative court requesting to annul an order by a panel to confiscate his assets.
The panel tasked with managing funds of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group had decided to freeze assets of Abu Trika because he co-owned a travel company that was funding MB operations.
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, argues that that decision reflected a misuse of power and clearly violated law.
The decision was based on inaccurate investigation that does not exceed rhetoric, according to the lawsuit memo.
Abu Trika had filed a complaint with the panel, which later turned it down.
The travel company had been established by Abu Trika and a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood group. According to findings of the panel, the director of the company, Anas Mohamed Omar el Qadi, is a criminal element of the Muslim Brotherhood, who is currently held for funding terrorist operations using the company's money.
