Algerian boxer Abdelkader Chadi (64 kg) has defeated Monday on points Lithuanian Evaldas Petrauskasin his first fight of the 1st edition of the new professional boxing competition (AIBA Pro Boxing) in Novosibirsk, Russia.
Chadi won the fight in the sixth round following the decision of the third judge (58-56), while the two others gave a draw.
The victory of the Algerian boxer was, according to the International Boxing Federation (AIBA), “the greatest surprise of the evening,” given that the Lithuanian, bronze medallist at the Olympic Games of London in 2012 and ranked 2nd of his category, was the firm favourite for victory.
It is Algeria’s second success in this competition which started Friday, after that of Mohamed Flissi (52 kg) who won Sunday in Novosibirsk his first fight by a knockout against French Redouane Asloum.
