Al-Arabi SC football team was crowned the champion of the 22nd Crown Prince Football Cup for the seventh time in the club history, defeating Kuwait SC 4-2 in the final match Monday.
The final match was held under auspices and presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Kuwait Stadium in the Area of Kaifan.
Al-Arabi was able to take the initiative from the start by scoring two goals in minutes (10) and (37) by the team's Jordanian international Ahmad Hayel.
In the second half, Al-Arabi's defender Ahmad Ibrahim accidently scored an own-goal for Kuwait at minute (56) when he attempted to kick away a cross shot delivered by attacker Fahad Al-Enezi into Al-Arabi's box. Later, Kuwait was able to tie the score at minute (86) by its Brazilian international Leonardo McLeely, leading the match into extra time.
During extra time, Al-Arabi scored its third goal in minute (95) with a power shot by midfielder Mohammad Jarragh, followed by the team's fourth and final goal of the match by teammate Hussain Al-Mosawi.
It is Al-Arabi's seventh title win as it previously won it in 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2006, and 2011.
