Spectacular acts from all over the world will be entertaining the crowds at this year’s Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Bahrain International Circuit, “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, has put together a packed programme of fun and enjoyable shows, and at the centre of it all will be a select group of Main Stage performers coming from various countries across the globe to give race-goers a taste of their unique culture and flair. Two of those global acts come from opposite sides of the planet – one is from Mexico and the other is from India. The Calpulli Mexican Dance Group will be putting on a compelling display of dance that has a strong connection with their rich history. Meanwhile, the Bhangra Empire dance team will be showcasing the very best the sub-continent has to offer. Such top-of-the-line entertainment is only one part of the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix, taking place April 19-20-21 in Sakhir. The FIA Formula 1™ World Championship will be roaring into town to bring the excitement level in Bahrain to an all-time high. And while drivers take a break from all the high-octane action, fans can take in all the off-track excitement which will be located at BIC’s F1™ Village, behind the Main Grandstand. At the heart of the F1™ Village will be a Main Stage, from where fans can enjoy the biggest and best of all that is on show. The Calpulli Mexican Dance Group brings to the stage 20 highly talented, electrifying and stunning dancers who showcase the traditional dances of their culture-rich country. Most noted for their compelling interpretations of traditional Aztec dances, Calpulli also exhibit dances from the Mexican states of Jalisco, Michoacan, Puebla and Veracruz. Dances from these regions are often performed to commemorate historical events and special occasions like Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day. Calpulli is a Native American word referring to the groups or clans categorised by trade, which contribute to the whole Aztec civilisation. This young, vibrant dance ensemble is composed of certified “Calpulli” artists who will bring excitement to the Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix for the very first time. Meanwhile, from India will be coming the Bhangra Empire dance team. This group has taken “Bhangra” folk dance and made it contemporary by fusing it with very high energy and exciting elements. Bhangra dancing originated from India in the 15th century. It is a dancing ritual that farmers would perform in celebration for a successful harvest of wheat crops. Striving to push boundaries and to share Punjabi culture with the world, Bhangra Empire will be performing highly choreographed shows. Composed of 12 enthusiastic dancers who will be dressed in traditional, bright, bold and colourful Punjabi clothing, their immense creativity and contagious enthusiasm will surely make them a crowd favourite at BIC. The Calpulli Mexican Dance Group and Bhangra Empire are just two of the many global acts that will be on hand at the circuit during the Grand Prix weekend. Other main stage performers include acts from France, Kenya, Switzerland, Japan and China, to name a few. That, plus more much is in store for all race-goers, so make sure that you don’t miss out on this must-attend festival of motor racing and entertainment, happening soon at BIC! Tickets are now available and they can be purchased for all three days of the race weekend or for Race Day alone. All three-day ticket holders get exclusive bonuses not available to single-day passes.
