Kuwait's Public Authority for Sports Director-General Dr. Humoud Al-Flaiteh on Tuesday said that he expected that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will lift the suspension of Kuwaiti sports federations in the upcoming days.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following a meeting with IOC officials in Lausanne, Switzerland to complete consultations about the steps to be taken to lift the suspension of Kuwaiti sports permanently, Al-Flaiteh said the outcome is positive. He pointed out that both sides have consensus on most of the deliberated issues.
Transnational committees will be appointed to run local sports federations till the election of new boards soon, he said, adding that the IOC President Thomas Bach has shown eagerness to end the suspension of the Kuwaiti sport. Bach has praised the Kuwaiti measures to iron out differences with the IOC to pave the way for lifting the suspension, he said.
