Dadabhai Travel today announced results for the first round of its five-week Island Hockey League 2015 tournament, which was launched on 18 March at the Al Qadisiya grounds in Manama.
The competition got off to a great start with three matches completed in the first round among the four participating teams: the Ministry of Interior team, Salcete Pistons, Dadabhai Wizards and the Dare Devils, which include players from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Doha.
At the end of the first rounds, the Dadabhai Wizards top the table with 4 points followed by Salcete Pistons with 2 points from two games each. The first game of the tournament was played between the Dadabhai Wizards and the Ministry of Interior, which was won comfortably by the Wizards who displayed strong team work to reach an 11 - 1 score. Scoring three goals, the man of the match of the first game was Sarfaraz Choudhary.
The eagerly awaited second match was between Salcete Pistons and the Dadabhai Wizards. In a keenly contested match the Wizards came off victorious again in a 5-3 victory despite a well fought match by Salcete. The man of the match for the second game of the night was Marcelino of the Salcete Pistons.
The third game of the first rounds took place between Salcete Pistons and Dare Devils. Dare Devils combined well to keep Salcete forwards at bay but in the end Salcete prevailed with a 3-0 win. Man of the match was Anson of Salcete, who scored a hat trick to give his team a comfortable win.
Sporting fans are encouraged to attend and lend their support to the teams at the Al Qadsiya grounds, where attendance is free of charge.
The second round of matches begins on Wednesday, 1 April at 8.30pm.
The tournament is being played on a home/away format and the knockout stage of the tournament will be held on 17th April . A selection of prizes will be awarded. This will include various individual prizes in addition to the Winner's Trophy and medals, Runner Up Trophy and medals, 3rd Place Trophy, Man of the Match for all games, MVP, Highest Scorer, Best Forward, Best Goal Keeper, Best Defender, Bet Mid-Fielder, Tournament Play Maker, Man of the Match, Semi-Finals and Man of the Match, Finals.
