Disabled Kuwaiti diver Faisal Al-Mousawi is preparing to undergo his third challenge when he takes on Similan Islands, located in the Andaman Sea just off the coast of southern Thailand.
Al-Mousawi plans to be the first disabled diver to conquer the feat, thus recording an achievement in the name of his country, a press conference announcing the expedition delivered by Kuwait Science Club official Meshari Al-Khabbaz said.
The diving spot is considered one of the ten best locations in the world for divers, and the trip is marked with danger due to Al-Mousawi's disability.
Over eight days, from November 15 to 22, he will carry out 14 dives on a mission aimed at delivering a message that disabled divers have the ability to compete with their fellow able-bodied counterparts, and even better their achievements.
Al-Mousawi said that he wanted to prove to the world that nothing is impossible for the disabled individual, and that their dreams and aspirations do not stop at a disability.
He has worked hard to achieve several internally-approved diving licenses he has gained from several locations across Asia and the Middle East, and is considered one of the most accredited divers in Kuwait.
Among his other dives are Sipadan Island, in the Celebes Sea off the east coast of Malaysia, and the Indian Ocean just off the coast of the Maldives.
