The Public Authority for Youth and Sports extoled highly in a press statement on Friday the gesture by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to facilitate chartering two planes to carry Kuwaiti fans to attend the national soccer team match against the Iraqi team taking place in Riyadh as part of the ongoing Arabian Gulf Cup tournament.
Thanking His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister for their part in this gesture, the Authority said it showed in glowing terms the deep interest of the nation's leadership in affairs of the youth and in Kuwaiti sports in general.
In that regard the Authority also thanked the officials of the Kuwait Soccer Association for their efforts at promoting soccer among the youth.
It moreover thanked the Kuwaiti embassy in Riyadh for facilitating the stay of Kuwaiti officials taking part in this important regional tournament.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Football Association agreed with the tournament organizers to give a free pass to all fans attending tournament matches in a bid to encourage fans to come out to the games and enjoy themselves free of charge.
The tournament started here last Thursday and will run through Nov.26
