Argentina soccer legend and UAE’s Al Wasl coach Diego Maradona intends to visit Egypt’s Ahly current training camp in Dubai to offer his condolences for the victims of Egypt's worst football disaster that occurred in Port Said stadium on 1 February. “I am deeply sympathetic with Egyptian club Ahly. I hope I will visit their camp in Dubai in solidarity with its traumatised players,” the 51-year-old former attacking midfielder told DPA on Saturday. Football activities have been suspended across Egypt after over 74 football fans were killed and hundreds injured when thousands of Masry fans stormed the pitch in the Port Said stadium attacking the Ahly supporters, after the day-17 league game. “I am very sad for the victims of Port Said stadium. It was a disaster and shame on football,” added the former coach of Argentina at the 2010 World Cup. Last week, it was reported that the sponsor company of Ahly’s camp already invited the FIFA Player of the Century, Maradona, to visit the Egyptians in UAE, the idea that was welcomed by the former Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Boca Juniors player. The Red Devils, who lost a 3-2 in Friday’s friendly by Kuwaiti side Shabab in their first match after the disaster, will play two other friendlies in their camp amid the club’s preparations for the African Champions League round of 32 match on 23 March.
