President of the General Organisation for Youth and Sports (GOYS) Hisham Mohammed Al-Jowder has inspected the work progress at Bahrain National Stadium in preparation for the sixth Huawei GCC Under-23 Championship which will be hosted by Bahrain from January 16 to 26.
He was accompanied by Secretary General of the GCC Organising Committee for Football Mirza Ahmed and Facilities and Projects Director Khalid Salim Al-Haj.
The GOYS President underlined keenness to ensure success of the 6th edition of the tournament, in line with the directives of Personal Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He also praised follow-up of SCYS Secretary General Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa on the sport facilities which will host the championship.
The GOYS President re-emphasised the importance of the tournament in developing football in the GCC countries, further cementing fraternal ties and boosting Bahrain's status as a major host of sporting events.
