H H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, received here yesterday at Al Bahr Palace the members of the Women's Sports Committee of Dubai Sports Council, who called to congratulate her on winning the International Olympic Personality Award of 2012. They conveyed the greetings of the wife of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bint Juma Al Maktoum, on this achievement to Sheikha Fatima. The trophy is added to the national achievements of the state. The meeting was attended by Nora Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Women's Union and Chairman of Emirates Women Sports Committee, members of the committee, as well as heads of women's sports associations, who will participate in the 3rd edition of the GCC's women sports hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from March 3-13. The meeting comes within the framework of Sheikha Fatima's keenness on continuous communication with the leaders of women's sports. Al Suwaidi expressed her happiness to meet Sheikha Fatima, pointing out that the women's sports is experiencing real renaissance that would not have been achieved without the support from Sheikha Fatima, who spare no effort for the elevation of UAE women not only in the sports but also in various fields. During the meeting, Laila Mohamed Suhail, Deputy Chairwoman of Emirates Women Sports Committee, Chairwoman of Dubai Women Sports Committee of the Dubai Sports Council, presented on behalf of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum a gift to Sheikha Fatima in recognition of the International Olympic Committee to her efforts in the field of women's sports and her significant role in supporting the advancement of Emirati women's sports and Arab as well. Sheikha Fatima was briefed by Suhail on the strategic plan for the advancement of Emirati women sports' access to the international level. Sheikha Fatima was also briefed on the ongoing preparations for this important regional event by the heads of the participant sports associations. She instructed the participants to demonstrate Emirati women's good performance during the tournament not only in the sports but also perseverance in various competitions. From WAM
