Sir Bani Yas, a horse owned by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was crowned Champion of the Qatar Derby in France this week.
The stallion fought a hard 2,000 metre battle at Chantilly on Sunday with jockey Christophe Soumillon, against 14 horses competing in the four-year-old purebred horse competition.
Salim Al Ketbi, Managing Director at Al Asayl Racing and Breeding, a centre owned by owned by H.H. the President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said the win was a great accomplishment for the young stallion and demonstrated his outstanding skills.
John Francois Bernard, who coached the winner, congratulated His Highness Sheikh Khalifa on the win and commended the horse s abilities.
"Sir Bani Yas is an excellent horse. I think that this horse will be even better next year," he said.
