A water and subaquatic sports caravan, organized by Algiers' provincial Youths, Sports and Leisure Department, has been set up Thursday at Piquet Blanc beach in Hussein Dey, Algiers.
Over ten days, the different clubs participating in the caravan will promote their activities, which include sailing, rowing, canoeing and deep-sea diving, in order to draw new members, organizers said.
In addition, the provincial department has organized at the same beach, which displayed a red flag (swimming prohibited) Thursday morning, leisure activities for holiday makers.
The activities include boat trips and introduction to deep-sea diving, free of charge. A playground has been set up at the beach for the children, for whom humorous shows are scheduled.
Launched at the fishing and recreational harbour of Tamentfoust, commune of El Marsa, east of the Bay of Algiers, the summer season caravan will move to El Kettani beach, in Bab El Oued (August 26-28), then to El Djamila harbour, in Ain Benian (August 29 – September 4).
