Players from 31 countries will battle for top honours at the fourth edition of PSA World Squash Championship starting Friday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
A pool of 64, including top ten international squash players, will vie for the total prize money of QR 1,186,250 (US $325,000). The winner will receive QR 166,440 U(S$45,600).
Top seeded Frenchman Gregory Gaultier heads a star list dominated by players from Egypt.
World number one and second seeded Mohamed Elshorbagy, 23, leads five fellow countrymen in the event.
Two-time champion Ramy Ashour, seeded fourth, four-time champion and fifth seeded Amr Shabana, Omar Mosaad (9th seed) and Tarek Momen (10th seed) are other Egyptians in the fray.
They face challenge from defending champion Nick Matthew of England.
Seventh seeded Perter Baker and eighth seeded Daryl Selby are two other players from England in the top ten here.
Indian ace Saurav Ghosal, who has won Indian national championships eight consecutive times, is seeded 14th.
Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi is Qatar's lone entry in the main draw.
