The Czech Republic secured qualification for Euro 2016 on Sunday after winning 2-1 in Latvia while the Netherlands lost 3-0 in Turkey.
David Limbersky and Vladimir Darida scored first-half goals in Riga, and the Czechs held on despite Arturs Zjuzins getting one back for the home side.
That win was enough to guarantee the Czechs, beaten finalists in 1996, would finish in the top two in qualifying Group A as the Netherlands slumped to a 3-0 defeat in Turkey.
Iceland can join them in advancing from Group A with two matches to spare if they avoid defeat at home to Kazakhstan later on Sunday.
