Denmark are to take on hot favourites China in the final of the Sudirman Cup hoping to pull off a major shock in the holders' own backyard. A Denmark side led by the experienced Peter Gade and Tine Baun overcame plucky Indonesia 3-1 on Saturday to reach the final of the world mixed team championships for only the second time. China, chasing their fourth Sudirman Cup on the bounce, brushed aside South Korea by the same scoreline. If Denmark are to achieve the improbable in the Chinese city of Qingdao on Sunday, they will need Gade, 34, and Baun, 31, on top form. Baun, who was a reserve in the 1999 squad that lost to China in the final, said: "Twelve years ago I was sitting on the sidelines cheering for the team. "I may be doing the same in the final but I may be called upon to play. Whatever it is, I love the fact that we are finally back in the final." Gade, the world number five, has already said this will be his last Sudirman Cup, one of the most prestigious titles in world badminton.
