Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ilkay Gundogan and Mario Gomez will start for Germany against San Marino, Germany's manager Joachim Loew said today.
Loew announced his first 11 in a news conference at the team base in Rimini ahead of the World Cup qualifier with minnows San Marino in Serraville. Group C leaders Germany then head to Milan on November 15 for a friendly with Italy.
With no.1 goalkeeper Neuer ill, ter Stegen will play in the competitive fixture with Bernd Leno taking over against the Italians. Julian Brandt also misses out with a virus; Jerome Boateng, Julian Draxler and Toni Kroos are all injured; while Mesut Ozil was not nominated to give him some rest.
Loew added that while the majority of his starting 11 is settled, two or three spots remain to be decided after the final training session.
