Qatar national football team coach Jorge Fossati has reiterated his confidence in his side to put in a strong performance and securing a win when they take on Iran Thursday in the sixth round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Fossati said Qatar are capable of handling tough matches and the squad will show its worth, adding that The Maroon have what it takes to beat Iran.
Fossati said his team are ready for the tie that is significant for the qualification campaign but not decisive, adding that the main target is to secure the three points against Iran.
The Uruguayan coach said group leaders Iran have strong chances of qualifying for the World Cup but added that his side played a great game in the corresponding fixture in Tehran despite losing 2-0.
He urged the Qatari fans to attend the match and support the national team in order to motivate the players and also show that Qatar has a passionate crowd that is ready for the 2022 showpiece.
Qatar's forward Ali Afif said players realize the importance of the match and pledged to do their best to win and please the Qatari fans.
