Jeff Hendrick and Michael Keane scored their first Premier League goals as Burnley beat Watford 2-0 to taste victory for the first time in four top-flight outings.
Watford went into the match fresh from good results out of a very difficult batch of six matches. Their highlights included beating West Ham and Manchester United. However, they turned in a pedestrian effort at Turf Moor and had spent much of the contest on the retreat by the time Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick (a club-record signing from Derby County) headed the 38th-minute opener.
This meant that Watford continue the bad habit of conceding in every game this season. They struggled with Burnley's aerial threat and set pieces. This was evident when former Manchester United youngster Will Keane left goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes with no chance five minutes after half-time.
The win took Burnley to seven points from six matches, 13th place. Meanwhile Watford missed a chance to move at least to ninth place, they remain 11th with seven points. They are two goals better than Burnley.
