Washington - Upi

Tiger Woods eagled two holes, shot a 5-under 67 Friday and built a three-shot lead at the tournament he hosts, the Chevron World Challenge. Woods has not won a regular tour event in two years and although this tournament does not count in PGA statistics, the 18-player field includes some of the top players in the world. The former top-ranked player in the sport eagled both the par-5 second and par-5 11th. He almost made another eagle at 13 but his third shot, from just off the green on the par-5 hole, stopped on the edge of the cup. Woods was 7-under for the round at one point, but double-bogeyed the par-3 15th. He finished two rounds at the Sherwood Country Club in 8-under 136. Matt Kuchar and first-round leader K.C. Choi shared second at 139. Kuchar shot a 67 and Choi struggled to a 73, suffering a quadruple-bogey at the 15th. Kuchar is in contention despite playing the final three holes of his first round in 4-over. Woods has returned to something close to the form he displayed during the peak of his career. He challenged for a victory before finishing third at the recent Australian Open and then won the clinching point in the Americans' triumph at the Presidents Cup. "That was probably the highest I could have shot today," Woods said. "I hit the ball well all day."
