Marcel Hirscher claimed the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia on Saturday to clinch the title in the discipline and move closer to an unprecedented fifth straight overall World Cup win.
The Austrian's overall time of 1min 13.92secs saw him beat in-form Frenchman Alexis Pinturault by 0.53secs, with Norway's Henrik Kristoffersen coming in third, 1.59secs behind Hirscher.
Hirscher now leads Kristoffersen by 333 points in the overall standings with just seven races to go. That margin means he is all but guaranteed to win the overall crystal globe as his Norwegian rival specialises only in the technical events.
