Bahrain international football player Mohammed Yusuf Al-Obaidly has today passed away, aged 64. The late Bahrain Club player, also known as Mohammed Jaknam, featured in the national football team in the 1960s and 1970s.
The talented midfielder and striker took part in friendly match between Bahrain national team and Egyptian Al-Zamalek at the inauguration of Isa Town Stadium in 1969. The Egyptian team had then edged past Bahrain 3-2, with Mohammed Jaknam scoring twice for the national team.
The deceased also participated in the debut edition of the GCC Football Cup, which was held in Bahrain in 1970. He then took part in the second edition of the GCC cup, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1972.
He belonged a talented generation which included Jbrahim Bucheeri, Abdulla, Abdulrahman, Abdulrahman Hazeem, Yusuf Ahmed, Abdulhameed Al-Sae and Yousef Al-Malki, in addition to 1960s And 1970s stars Ahmed Salmeen, Isa Bounafour, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, Hassan Zulaikh, Saleem Mubarak, Mohammed Al-Ansari and Sameer Ilyas.
