Roma defender Nicolas Burdisso underwent a two-hour operation to repair the knee ligaments he damaged in a 2014 FIFA World Cup™ qualifier against Colombia in midweek. The Argentina centre-back also broke his kneecap in the freak accident during the 2-1 win for the Argentinians. He must wear a knee brace for three weeks before beginning the rehabilitation process. "The operation went very well and we're all very satisfied given how complicated the injury was," said the surgeon who operated on Burdisso, Giuliano Cerulli. "Normally in these cases the rehabilitation period is between six and seven months but given Burdisso's temperament and desire he could also be quicker."
