The Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided on Thursday to fine Ahly coach Hossam El Badry USD 10,000 and suspend him from attending the club’s next match against Espérance Sportive de Tunis within the African Champions League quarter-final.
The move comes after El Badry refused to talk to beIN Sports, which has the sole rights in the Middle East to broadcast African tournaments, following his side's 2-0 Champions League loss to Morocco's Wydad on June 20 and after Ahly’s 3-1 win over Coton Sport of Cameroon on July 9.
Meanwhile, the one-match ban is suspended on condition that El Badry is not found guilty of a similar offence until the end of the competition.
