Fresh from his debut grand prix victory at Le Mans, Louis Rossi marked himself out as a serious contender to become Moto3's first repeat winner by leading Friday practice at Catalunya. The opening four Moto3 races have produced four different winners - Maverick Vinales, Romano Fenati, Sandro Cortese and then Rossi. Inspired by his home wet win, Rossi dominated the dry and sunny afternoon session in Spain. The Racing Team Germany rider successfully retaliated after being surpassed by Vinales in the closing stages to finish the session 0.150s clear of the Blusens Avintia rider. Vinales had led the morning session with a best time of 1m 53.168s. Behind the pair of FTR Hondas this afternoon was championship leader Sandro Cortese, the KTM rider lapping 0.284s from Rossi. The Suter Honda of Miguel Oliveira took fourth with Englishman Danny Kent fifth for KTM.
