The deputy director general of the French Football Federation (FFF), Andre Prevosto, has been sacked, it was announced on Thursday. "I no longer wished to continue working with Mr. Prevosto so we have offered him a severance package that will allow him to leave immediately," said the FFF president Noel Le Graet at a news conference in Paris. "The executive committee voted in favour of the sacking of Andre Prevosto by nine votes to one." Prevosto, who was in charge of the FFF's amateur football department, was suspended for six days earlier this year as part of an inquiry into a controversial plan to introduce quotas for dual-nationality players in the French national team. It was discovered that Prevosto had kept in his office recordings of conversations held last November in which top management at the federation, including France coach Laurent Blanc, secretly discussed and approved "unofficial discriminatory quotas" to limit the number of black and Arab players coming through their national training programmes to 30 percent. The recordings were later obtained by the influential website Mediapart, who brought the story to light.
