The 1964 European Championship winner succumbed to long-term illness, and will be remembered for an excellent career for both club and country.Former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Spain midfielder Jesus 'Chus' Pereda has died in hospital aged 73 following a battle with a long-term illness.Pereda had an illustrious career with club and country, the pinnacle of which was winning the 1964 European Championships with his nation.Over an eight-year period, the Medina de Pomar-born midfielder won 15 caps for the Spanish national side, scoring six goals at senior level after having also represented the under-21 team.
