Borussia Dortmund will be without Brazilian centre-back Felipe Santana for Tuesday's German Cup last 16 tie with second-tier Fortuna Duesseldorf, the German champions announced on Monday. Santana injured his ankle during Dortmund's 4-1 victory at Freiburg on Saturday, which left Dortmund three points behind Bayern Munich in second place going into the Bundesliga's winter break. The 25-year-old is expected to be replaced by Patrick Owomoyela, but Dortmund are still without Serbian centre-back Neven Subotic and have doubts over the fitness of Germany left-back Marcel Schmelzer. Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp said he hopes Santana will be fit to return in January after the winter break, "even if our doctor doesn't seem as optimistic".
