Chairperson of Algeria’s Peace Community Abdel Raziq Maqree called the ruling authority in the country to prevent any attempt to falsify the coming parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on May 4. He warned that such attempts could lead the country to chaos.
He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that the opposition parties have a great opportunity during the coming parliamentary elections if the authorities have the serious will to hold free and fair elections. He stressed that any attempt to manipulate the results of the coming elections would raise the chaos during the current critical position on social and economic level.
He praised the electoral campaign of his movement, which is considered the major arm of Muslim Brotherhood in Algeria, saying that it is positive and successful campaign. He signaled to the large number of people who were keen to express their support for their electoral campaign.
He added, “The movements of Homos and Change propose to form a national unity government after the coming elections to lead the country during the coming transitional phase.”
He stressed that the Algerian government failed to contain the current critical economic situation witnessed in the country since the fall of oil prices in the international markets in 2014, saying that the government cannot bear the responsibility of the country alone. He stressed the need for allowing the other political parties to participate in the decision making process to save the country and to improve the economic position.
He refuted the claims over a potential deal between the ruling authority and Islamist parties, saying that only the Algerian people enjoy the right to choose their representatives. He blamed such claims promoted by the media channels and newspapers for the chaos witnessed in the country.
He stressed the importance of the coming parliamentary elections, saying that the political party which will gain the majority of parliamentary seats will form the coming government, while the other parties will take the opposition role.
