Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi described talks with his French counterpart Francois Hollande on Wednesday as extremely fruitful.
They reflected harmony in the two countries' viewpoints towards bilateral and international issues, Sisi said at a press conference with Hollande at the Elysee Palace.
The Palestinian issue, on "which our stances were totally identical, has topped the summit talks and we agreed on doing the utmost to bring all parties to work on and resume the Palestinian-Israeli peace process," he said.
This must take place at the nearest possible time, he added.
The settlement of the Palestinian problem will produce a qualitative step forward in the Arab region and the world as a whole, he said.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On Iraq, he said they agreed to work with the Iraqi government and the various international parties to support Iraq in the face of terror.
"Our talks on Syria, meantime, reflected understanding on the need to reach a political solution to the crisis that would stop the bloodshed, protect state institutions and protect the country's territorial integrity," he said.
